Working Business Language : This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.

Job Overview

As an Application Developer, you will be working under minimal supervision at the forefront of designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions within the Varicent Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) platform. You'll play a pivotal role in the design analysis of incentive compensation structures and be responsible for integrating data and ETL processes.

This role will be part of the Digital Delivery department which focuses on developing and enhancing Wawanesa's broker and member facing digital solutions using industry leading technologies and frameworks. This includes building the ecosystem using a broker centric design approach with a strong focus on enhancing the user experience for our brokers in Canada.

Job Responsibilities

Design Varicent ICM solutions aligning with business needs, including data models, compensation plans, workflows, and reporting structures.
Utilize Varicent development tools to build custom solutions, automate processes, and enhance incentive compensation management.
Coordinate deployment of Varicent ICM solutions, ensuring proper configuration and migration for successful implementation.
Prepare technical specifications from requirements and adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities.
Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for solutions, monitoring system performance and recommending optimizations.
Maintain and update relevant documentation consistently.
Adhere to established practices and stay updated on technologies.
Participate in planning activities.
Estimate and track progress of assigned work.
Create and update relevant documentation.
Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines.
Keep current with relevant technologies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of Post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or equivalent experience.

Two or more years of practical experience performing an application development role building software using current programming languages / techniques and working with relational database systems and structured query languages.

Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message.

Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload, with various situations and changing priorities.

Possesses a willingness to learn while keeping abreast of developments in field and have the ability to apply learning to new situations.

Experience with Python scripting, Cronacle job scheduling, Confluence, ServiceNow, SQL, and Scrum processes / tools like JIRA will be considered an asset.

Certifications in relevant technology is considered an asset.

Knowledge and experience in the Insurance industry is considered an asset.
