Your Impact at Empire

The Manager, Tax will oversee tax accounting and compliance functions. Working in collaboration with the US and Canada tax team, you will handle tax audits and assist in maximizing potential tax savings through available tax initiatives.

This role is located at our Empire Canada Head Office in Vaughan, ON .

What We Are Looking For :

  • Post-secondary education in related field
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of in-depth tax experience, strong tax accounting skills

  • What You'll Be Doing Each Day

  • Work with internal staff and external providers in preparation / completion of income tax returns, HST / GST filings, internal transactions, CRA and IRS queries / audits, and other ad hoc projects that arise
  • Follow up and resolve discrepancies with government notices of assessment with respect to tax returns filled
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated tax provision working papers and tax note, including true-up interim working papers and proposed tax entries while liaising with external auditors regarding tax provision
  • Special projects and assistance in completion of tasks related to analysis of tax transactions
