Role : Automation QA Lead

Job Type : Contract (6 months), may extend

Location : Remote (EST Hrs), office in Downtown Toronto

Our client, a very well-known Tech Consulting client looking to hire a Automation QA Lead .

Your New Role :

Our client is seeking a Senior Automation QA / Tester to support our development team working on a SaaS application in Oracle APEX, backed by a full Oracle and PL / SQL infrastructure. This role is key to enhancing the testing processes, introducing automated testing capabilities, and ensuring the overall quality and performance of the system.

  • Automated Testing : Implement automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline testing processes and ensure scalability. The candidate will be responsible for selecting and integrating an appropriate automation framework for the team.
  • Test Strategy & Planning : Develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases to cover all critical areas of the application. While initial functional testing will be performed by the development team, the QA / Tester will be responsible for expanding and refining these test cases for broader coverage.
  • Test Execution : Conduct various types of testing including :
  • Regression Testing : Validate that existing functionalities remain intact after updates or new feature releases.
  • System Testing (End-to-End) : Test the entire workflow of the system to ensure smooth operation across all integrated components.
  • Performance Testing : Assess the application's speed, scalability, and overall performance under various loads.
  • Accessibility Testing (AODA) : Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, specifically the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Mobile Testing : Test the application for compatibility and responsiveness on mobile devices.
  • Defect Management & Reporting : Log and track defects and produce detailed test reports to ensure transparency and clarity for the development team.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer : Create clear and detailed documentation covering test strategies, test cases, and automation frameworks. The resource will be responsible for ensuring knowledge transfer to the internal team for long-term use and maintenance.
  • Required Testing Categories – AODA, Mobile Testing, Security Testing, Performance Testing, Functional Testing, System Testing

What You’ll Need To Succeed :

  • Experience in Testing Web Applications : Prior experience testing web-based or SaaS applications , with a focus on systems built using Oracle APEX and PL / SQL.
  • Oracle and PL / SQL Knowledge : Familiarity with Oracle Database and PL / SQL is essential for understanding and testing the backend infrastructure.
  • Automation Tools Expertise : Expertise in selecting and implementing automated testing tools and frameworks, along with the ability to maintain and scale the automation process.
  • Documentation : Strong skills in documenting test processes, defect management, and test results using relevant tools.
  • Tool and Framework Setup : The QA / Tester will be responsible for setting up testing tools and automation frameworks, ensuring their seamless integration into the development process.
  • Knowledge Transfer : Proper knowledge transfer to the internal team is critical, enabling them to sustain the testing processes long-term.
  • Initial Functional Testing by Development Team : The development team will handle initial functional testing, with the QA resource expanding and enhancing the test cases as the application evolves.

    • The resource may also be involved in testing other applications within the same framework at a later stage. These applications, built on a similar backend architecture, may also require QA support as they progress in development.
