The Peace River School Division, in conjunction with Holy Family Catholic Regional Division, is seeking applicants for a Full-Time Project PEACE Success Coach . The position commences on January 5, 2025 or sooner, and is based at Glenmary Junior / Senior High, Peace River, Alberta.

Job Summary

The MHCB Success Coach provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families. Working as part of a team, the position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence‑based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Programming includes large‑and small‑group work in schools and community settings, focusing on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering abilities for improved mental health and wellness.

Success Coaches work with school staff, parents, and community members to increase knowledge, skills, and competence related to mental health and illness issues. They build strong relationships and act as the “go‑to” mental health subject‑matter experts for students, staff, parents, and community partners.

They also facilitate referrals to specialized addiction and mental health services and ensure compliance with HIA, FOIPP, and all relevant AHS policies. Evaluation activities and survey data collection as required by AHS are also part of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

• Related post‑secondary degree or diploma in social sciences or relevant courses and experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in addiction or mental health or health / human services (practicum experience considered).
• Knowledge of addiction and mental health and familiarity with developmental, educational, emotional, social, and recreational needs of children, youth, and families.
• Experience delivering programming and comfortable with public speaking.
• Strong relationship‑building, time‑management, initiative, and collaborative skills.
• Proficiency in facilitation, positive communication, creative thinking, and decision‑making.
• Ability to develop supportive relationships with young people and advocate for others.
• Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, agencies, and health care providers.
• Community collaboration / networking skills and understanding of the local context.
• Capability to maintain program statistics, evaluate effectiveness, and manage personal and professional boundaries.
• Resilience, commitment to personal development, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media.
• All employees must provide a criminal record check.
• Professions may be required to provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college.

Benefits

Rate of pay ranges from $24.43 to $44.73 per hour, depending on years of education and experience.
