What will you do in this job?
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at the Banff Shop, you will contribute to making the Transportation and BJC fleet as safe as possible for our guests. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, our #1 Core value of Safety 1st starts with you, in ensuring the mechanical fitness of our motorcoaches, heavy equipment and light vehicle fleet.
This is a multi-faceted position and can include any, or all, of the following :
Safety 1st! Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any dutiesPerform preventative maintenanceDiagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as neededAdjust equipment and repair or replace defective partsTest repaired equipment for proper performanceService attachments and working toolsMaintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environmentMaintain daily record of all works orders, part orders and other administrative tasksDemonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processesAssist in training apprentice mechanics in the tradeSupport colleagues and co-workers in their dutiesAct as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything vehiclesWhat skills and experience do you need for this job?
Valid Alberta (or inter-provincial) Registered Apprentice or Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certificationCVIP license for Alberta is an assetExperience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, Cummins, MTU, Volvo and Allison, 2F engines / transmissionsFamiliar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches an assetClass 1, 2 or 3 driver’s licenses with airbrake (Q) endorsement an assetAbility to supply own tools up to ¾” and impact drivesAbility to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem-solving skillsMature, energetic, dependable, and self-motivatedEnjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environmentMust enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditionsComfortable working on your feet for extended periods in an indoor / outdoor environment. Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly in the park.Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policyMust meet the Organization grooming and appearance standardsTo honor our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record checkStandard First-Aid or higher an assetWhat will your work environment be like?
