Job description

Title : Shipping and Receiving Coordinator

Reports to : Farms Production Manager

Based at : Mucci Farms 1,2,3, Kingsville, ON.

Type of Employment : Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, Monday to Saturday and potentially extended hours depending on workload and priorities; which could include possible Sunday shifts.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Examine contents and temperatures, compare with records such as manifests, invoices, certifications, bill of ladings, to verify accuracy of produce and dry good incoming loads.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and complete OSD&R forms.
  • Receive incoming shipments in a timely fashion, properly date code and labeled.
  • Inspect shipment(s) for quality and count.
  • Ensure that all QA functions are being performed and documented in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Keep open lines of communication with all departments, to address needs or issues and respond to emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Record shipment data in famous and TMS software.
  • Requisition dry good items from other facilities, loading, and ensure items sent in a timely manner to not disturb packing schedules.
  • Plan and enter the transfer orders for both dry good and produce as requested for the day’s workload.
  • Promptly organize warehouse so that all similar product is grouped together.
  • Coordinate and organize daily priorities and sequence of inbound loads.
  • Drive forklift to assist with a timely offloading of priorities, following FIFO and scanning procedures.
  • Assist with training new hires, overseeing their entries and providing assistance as needed
  • Ensure product or materials are returned and stored properly back in inventory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Safe driver as a forklift operator and conduct daily equipment inspections.
  • Previous experience with vegetables or comparable environment is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and develop an understanding of Produce Quality
  • Ability to conduct basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken) in English.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Famous and RedLine Cooler programs (for inventory management) will be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently or within a team setting.
  • Positive attitude, punctual and willing to grow within the company.
  • Communication skills requirement : Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken) in English; additional languages (i.e. Spanish, will be considered an asset).
  • Physical Abilities :

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and / or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and / or legs.
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time.
  • Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F.
