Curriculum Developer : Supporting Aging Sisters in Scarborough (SASS) : Building Capacity to Support Marginalized Senior Women in Scarborough
JOB DESCRIPTION (Part time, Starting week of January 6, 2025 26 weeks)
Purpose of Position
- To build our organizational capacity to advance gender-equality by developing a series of educational workshops / webinars that will promote the emotional and economic empowerment of marginalized senior women 55+.
- Potential workshop / webinar topics include : gender equality, economic security, violence against older women, elder abuse, human rights, physical and emotional health, life transitions, bereavement, and finding your voice
Accountability
Reports to the Program Manager, Scarborough Women’s Centre
Job Specifications
Research
- Review the literature review and focus group data gathered to better understand how the needs and barriers experienced by marginalized senior women have evolved post COVID and what topics are most relevant to them
- Conduct research into the specific topics identified to inform workshop / webinar development
Focus Groups and Community Consultations
- Attend in-person and on-line focus groups with current service users / potential service users who are aging to better understand how the needs and barriers experienced by marginalized senior women have evolved post COVID and what topics are most relevant to them
- Attend virtual focus groups with community partners and other agencies serving seniors to learn more about the evolving needs and barriers experienced by marginalized senior women
Workshop Development
Develop a series of trauma-informed workshops / workshops based on research conducted and feedback received from senior women and community partners / agencies serving seniors.
Potential themes to be explored include : gender equality, economic security, violence against older women, elder abuse, human rights, physical and emotional health, life transitions, bereavement, and finding your voice
Meet regularly with the SASS Project Coordinator and Program Manager to review progress and receive feedback into the development of the workshops / webinars
Administration
- Develop Results Based Management tools that will be used to measure the impact of the workshops and webinars for senior women
- Maintain accurate files and records related to the project
- Participate in team meetings with the SASS Project Coordinator and Program Manager
- Attend weekly supervision meetings with the Program Manager
- Participate in staff meetings on a monthly possible, when possible
Qualifications
- Relevant Bachelors or Masters’ degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience developing educational curriculum and designing and delivering workshops / webinars
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Knowledgeable and experienced on women’s issues / seniors’ issues
- Intersectional analysis of barriers and challenges for senior women
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum design, adult learning principles, effective assessment strategies, and accessible communication / design principles
- Experience working collaboratively with community members and community agency representatives to develop accurate and relevant content, including demonstrated facilitation skills
- Strong written, presentation, and communication skills
- Knowledge of copyright and trademark rules for writing and delivering content and graphics
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products, Cisco WebEx, Google Workspace, Adobe, Canva Pro
- Well organized, self-starting, and good team skills
Working Conditions
- 14.5 hours per week
- $35 per hour, less applicable tax and deductions
