Your Opportunity :
Our Calgary design studio is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our team. Top candidates will have a high level of proficiency in graphic communication and experience in print and multi-media applications. This is a creative position and will require both design and software skills. This individual will be responsible for creating printed project and business development materials, including but not limited to proposals, studies, reports, presentation graphics, posters, brochures, etc.. The position will work closely with the planning and landscape architecture group to help develop their ideas into visual concepts. The studio and team is fun to work with, will challenge you to learn new skills, and at times can be fast-paced.
Your Key Responsibilities
Create printed material utilizing your creative graphic design skillsets. Production will be completed in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
Conceptualizing graphics and creating designs / layouts with minimal instruction.
Develop custom graphics using illustrator or other design software.
Assist with design and production of various brochures, marketing collateral, reports and proposals.
Learn about the specific scope of work for our design projects for various disciplines and assist with proposal content development.
Assist with various project related tasks.
Provide other graphic design services as needed.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities
Ability to take minimal direction to come up with alternate concepts, manage multiple competing priorities, and work independently when required.
Experience working in a team setting and taking direction from multiple sources.
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software is mandatory (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.).
Complete work with minimal mistakes.
Willingness to learn our design workflow and assist with writing, editing and templating proposals.
Ability to develop graphics in vector and raster formats utilizing Adobe software.
Be open to learning and assisting on design projects as needed.
The successful candidate is highly motivated, with strong communication skills, is passionate about design, possesses strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Has the ability to multitask and self-manage work tasks to meet project milestones and deadlines.
Education and Experience
Applicant should submit digital portfolio of their work or link to on-line portfolio.
Minimum 3-years' experience utilizing graphic design principles.
Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic arts, English or related design profession considered preferential.
Copy writing and / or editor experience not required but considered a bonus.
Knowledge of the planning and landscape architecture disciplines is not required but considered an advantage.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Opportunity for a hybrid work environment between your home office and our Calgary office may be considered. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
