Compensation Details
Software Engineer 17 : Salaries typically range from $83,037 to $110,717 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus a performance‑based incentive.
Software Engineer 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus a performance‑based incentive.
Location
Hybrid work environment; employees work in the office 2 days per week (subject to change).
This role can be performed from EDC headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our community hubs in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver.
Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group was established in 2023 with the mission to empower customers and colleagues to create secure and reliable digital experiences. The group’s objectives include :
Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state and data model.
Manage the three‑year Digital Roadmap, sequencing technology outcomes across all domains.
Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations.
As part of the Digital Business Platforms group, this team seeks a Software Engineer or Senior Software & AI Engineer to implement the strategic technology vision and support the Web Experience Family.
This role is accountable for the hands‑on design, build, support, and operations of the Web Experience Family, responsible for managing the public‑facing website and related systems. The primary focus areas include automated testing, cybersecurity compliance, systems integration, platform monitoring, and AI‑driven feature delivery.
What You Will Be Doing
Design and implement cloud‑based solutions, preferably in Azure.
Design, train, and leverage AI, including large language models (LLMs).
Develop robust solutions with Python or .NET on the Azure stack.
Advocate innovative, creative solutions to complex problems that broadly impact EDC.
Support Product Owners / Business Analysts in translating business needs into technical solutions.
Review system models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide guidance on API, integration, and DevSecOps.
Guide adoption of best coding practices (SOLID principles, documentation, testing, etc.).
Apply evolving knowledge of EDC’s software, SDLC practices, and the industry.
Actively participate in knowledge‑sharing sessions as a presenter and attendee.
Communicate complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and persuade senior stakeholders to adopt alternative viewpoints.
What We Are Looking For
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years (Level 17) or 7 years (Level 18) of developer experience.
Experience in AI training, fine‑tuning, and inference.
Strong proficiency in Python or C#.
Hands‑on experience with backend technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and ASP.NET Core.
Advanced knowledge of web services, microservices, and API development.
Advanced knowledge of integration services, including JSON and REST.
Proficiency with CI / CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes.
Experience with SAST / DAST tools and cybersecurity methods.
Innovative, user‑centered problem‑solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and passion for innovation.
Familiarity with enterprise content management systems and related infrastructure.
What Will Make You Stand Out
Familiarity with Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.
Experience with 3‑amigos testing and Robot Framework.
Azure Developer or AI certifications.
Previous experience in financial services industry.
Bilingualism in both official languages of Canada (English and French).
