POSITION TYPE TERM (March 31, 2025), FULL-TIME
Background : The Youth Engagement Facilitator is responsible for leading and facilitating workshops in high schools and youth groups with a focus to prevent sexual exploitation and promote healthy relationship skills. This role includes building relationships with educators, teachers, social workers in schools and other leaders in the youth work field. The facilitator will provide leadership to other staff within the team.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY :
- Facilitate group workshops for youth aged 14 -18 in high schools and youth groups to engage especially boys and young men in the prevention of sexual exploitation
- Conduct outreach and build positive relationships with educators, teachers, social workers in school divisions and schools, youth group leaders, etc.
- Provide presentations and trainings for different community groups
- Develop and expand workshop material and content for groups like parents, and teachers
Qualifications :
Degree in education, youth work, social work or similar fieldMinimum of three (3) years in high school education, social work in a school or youth serving setting, youth support services, or related fieldOutstanding communication and interpersonal skills ability to build and maintain positive relationships with youth (grade 9 to 12) and with partners in the education fieldOutstanding skills to engage young people through conversationKnowledge of youth development (social, emotional, mental, relational) and the challenges that young people faceBeing comfortable to discuss sensitive topics such as relationships, sexuality (pornography, consent, abuse, sextortion) in a positive and empowering way with young peopleBeing familiar with sexual exploitation, sex trafficking and its impact on individuals and communityDemonstrates ability to organize a busy schedule, follow through on all tasks as assigned and meet deadlinesApproachable, flexible, outgoing and non-judgmental towards young peoplePossesses a strong work ethicDriver’s License and access to vehicleAbility to work occasionally in the evening and on weekendsSupports Indigenous values; has knowledge of Indigenous cultures
