Over the past 35 years, C-FER Technologies’ unique test capabilities are used to evaluate and de-risk novel technologies under the most challenging real-world applications. Our research spans a broad range of projects that include full-scale destructive testing under complex loading and environmental conditions and advanced computer simulation and analysis. C-FER supports the Global Energy Transition by utilizing our state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure to solve our client’s problems in the growing hydrogen economy and to support emerging technologies in carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS).

Primarily based in C-FER’s Main facility in South Edmonton, the Project Manager will work closely with the Drilling and Completions Department Manager to lead the team to successfully execute and complete delivery of client mechanical engineering projects.

What You’ll Do :

The Senior Project Manager is an integral member of a multidisciplinary Drilling and Completions team which is responsible for applied research, consulting, and testing projects spanning testing of sub-surface oil and gas products to materials evaluation in hazardous environments.

You Will :

  • Lead project teams to ensure projects remain within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Prepare project plans, schedules, work breakdown structures, budgets and proposals.
  • Assist with resource allocation and scheduling.
  • Source suppliers, fabricators, contractors and installers to ensure the right material and people are available at the right time.
  • Track project costs, provide forecasts and prepare reports on project net revenue.
  • Identify, quantify and manage contract changes.
  • Develop and improve project management best practices.
  • Contribute and collaborate on C-FER’s quality management system.
  • Mentor junior resources on fundamentals of project management.

Who You Are :

  • A strong Project Manager with a proven track record of completing high quality deliverables on-time and on-budget.
  • Deadline-driven and self-motivated with strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Solution and detail orientated approach, with the ability to be both creative and analytical to solve problems.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Adept working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • A safety leader who is committed to promoting a culture of safety and compliance with organization, regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements.
  • What You Bring :

  • A post-secondary degree or technical diploma in construction / engineering or an appropriate / related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience as a Project Manager.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to travel and work outside of Canada.
  • Ability to work on-site daily (i.e. no remote or hybrid work).
  • Additionally, you should have :

  • Experience leading a range of small and large mechanical and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proven success in a testing, manufacturing, fabrication and / or construction organization.
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, team members, subcontractors, vendors.
  • Excellent contract management skills for writing and reviewing contracts, RFPs, and tenders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with engineering drawings (SolidWorks), assemblies, and bills of materials.
  • Report writing experience including interim reports, procedures, summaries and final reports.
  • Experience working in a quality management system (e.g. ISO, API, etc.).
  • Complementary Experience :

  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or training.
  • A creative and entrepreneurial mindset including business development, sales and marketing.
  • Experience with Power BI and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Data analysis and development of workflows and metrics.
  • Knowledge of upstream oil and gas (e.g. downhole or completions tools) and / or emerging renewables (e.g. Geothermal, Hydrogen).
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g. Hubspot, Dynamics).
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder projects (e.g. joint ventures, joint industry projects).
