Background :
We are looking for a Telecommunications System Specialist consultant (Level 3) to assist the team with tasks associated with the Telephony Modernization Project.
ESDC) currently has approximately 400 locations throughout Canada that contain various telecommunication services like Centrex, Avaya VoIP & PBX systems, MS Teams Phone, cellular, and analog gateways.
The project consists of five main pillars of work :
- Fixed Line Reduction (FLR)
- MS Teams Phone deployment to 40k employees
- Poly Phone Set deployment
- Point of Sale terminal transition to Ethernet ( 1,800 devices)
- Hard Token / Security Key deployment to 40k employees
- ESDC currently has 47k fixed Avaya Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) lines and 36k mobile devices. As part of the MS Teams Phone rollout, we are planning to replace the existing Avaya VoIP lines and repatriate the majority of the Talk & Text mobile devices in order to get to a recommended target ratio of 1 telephony service to 1 employee.
Responsibilities :
- The System Analyst consultant (level 3) must be able to, but not limited to :
- Formulate statements of problems; establish procedures for the development and implementation of significant, new, or modified project elements to solve these problems, and obtain approval thereof.
- Report progress of assigned tasks on an ongoing basis and at scheduled points in the project life cycle.
- Meet regularly with project stakeholders, business lines, and senior management.
- Liaise with telecommunication technical groups to review system integrity, performance, reliability, and established processes.
- Prepare planning and procurement support documentation, such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards, and SOWs, for miscellaneous telecom-related items.
- Review, analyze, and provide recommendations relating to telecommunication system components and associated documentation.
- Participate in design, technical, and management reviews to monitor, advise, and report on project progress and potential problems
- Conduct telecommunication systems integration testing and evaluation.
- Analyze & document telecommunication system deficiencies and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on the suitability of industry documentation and collaborate with internal communications teams on change management plans and project documentation.
- Maintain documentation related to telephony configurations and services, processes, change requests, and support records.
- Develop, implement, and manage policies and procedures relating to telephony services within ESDC.
- Conduct research on telephony products, services, protocols, and standards.
- Attend relevant workshops and training sessions.
- Lead and track activities related to employee onboarding to MS Teams Phone.
- Configure and test MS Teams advanced call routing features.
- Configure, test, document, lead & track activities related to deployment of MS Teams-certified Poly desk sets.
- Monitor and troubleshoot telephony-related issues as needed.
- Prepare, document and present MS Teams Phone statistics and reports.
- Configure, test, document, lead & track activities related to deployment of Hard Tokens used with Client Azure tenant.
