The Junior Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations by performing routine tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Job Responsibilities
Safely conduct testing, analysis, and reporting of asphalt roofing shingle products and raw materials.Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions for analysis according to standard procedures.Perform routine laboratory tests and experiments following SOPs and relevant standards.Accurately record and report test results in a timely manner.Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.Follow all laboratory health and safety protocols, best practices, and guidelines.Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of chemicals and samples in accordance with MSDS.Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to procedures.Document repairs, maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory instruments.Coordinate work to maintain efficiency and ensure timely completion of laboratory tasks.Coordinate with other technicians to complete tasks according to the planned schedule.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge‑sharing activities.Support senior technicians and scientists in ongoing projects.Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.0–2 years of experience in a laboratory setting (internships or co‑op placements considered).Certified Technician (C.Tech) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is considered an asset or eligibility.Experience in a laboratory environment is considered an asset.Familiar with laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and processes, including safe operation of testing equipment.Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.Detail‑oriented and maintains organizational skills to support team tasks.Demonstrates problem‑solving and analytical abilities in routine tasks.Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with the team.Ability to occasionally lift materials up to 25 lbs.Diversity and Equal Opportunity Employment
