Position Summary

Are you looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced fabrication environment with opportunities to learn and grow your skills? Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a Shop Labourer to join our dynamic team of professionals.

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, you will play a key support role in daily shop operations by preparing materials, assisting welders and fabricators, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This position is well-suited for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to an efficient production workflow.

Responsibilities / Tasks

• Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
• Clean, prep, and organize steel parts prior to fabrication or welding
• Kit parts and materials according to drawings, work orders, or supervisor instructions
• Assist welders and fabricators by staging, moving, and preparing materials and components
• Grind, deburr, clean, and inspect parts as required
• Load, unload, and move materials safely within the shop using appropriate equipment
• Perform general shop housekeeping, including sweeping, waste removal, and maintaining organized work areas
• Operate basic hand tools such as grinders, drills, and measuring tools as trained
• Assist with basic shop equipment operation as required and trained (saws, drill press, ironworker, etc.)
• Safely operate overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment as trained
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in pre-use inspections
• Support production teams to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of work

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $21.00 - $26.00 per hour , with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work and support employee growth.
