Description

We are looking for a full-time veterinary receptionist to join our team at the Yellowknife Veterinary Clinic. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, excellent telephone and in-person communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Must be able to work independently as well as with other members of the clinic staff. Experience with Cornerstone would be an asset, but training with this software can be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Must show great compassion for animals and their owners and understand the stress that patients and clients endure.
  • Must be comfortable working around animals.
  • Warmly greet clients through telephone and in-person.
  • Differentiating routine cases from emergency cases and relaying pertinent information to other staff members.
  • Entering client and patient information, and scheduling appointments through Cornerstone veterinary software.
  • Generating invoices and consent forms and explaining them to the clients.
  • Processing incoming and outgoing patients and handling payments through Cornerstone.
  • Answering phone calls, which may involve answering questions, screening for service needs, and scheduling appointments.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail and e-mails.
  • Managing the retrieval and storage of medical records.
  • Monitoring client waiting area, examining rooms, and boutique to ensure cleanliness.
  • Keeping an inventory of items in veterinary boutique and assisting clients to find certain items.

Clinic hours include :

  • MONDAY 9 AM 8PM
  • TUESDAY 8 AM - 8PM
  • WEDNESDAY 8 AM 8 PM
  • THURSDAY 8 AM 8 PM
  • FRIDAY 9 AM 6 PM
  • SATURDAY 9 AM 6 PM
  • SUNDAY CLOSED Available for emergencies only

Shifts to be arranged with management.

Qualifications

  • Completion of high-school degree or further education preferred.
  • Competence in the English language.
  • Previous industry experience or certification relative to the veterinary profession would be an asset.
