About the client :
Our client is an innovative, customer-focused manufacturer of shelf edge marketing products sold to retailers, consumer packaged goods companies, printers, agencies, etc. Over the past 50 years, the company has grown to be one of North America's leading designers and manufacturers within their niche sector and provides tools to maximize branding and enhance the in-store shopping experience.
They are adding a Senior Product Designer (engineering degree an asset, not mandatory) who will report to the Engineering Manager while providing guidance and mentorship to the more junior team members.
This role will be based in Port Coquitlam, BC and it’s fully in-office.
Responsibilities :
- The new hire will be supporting the team with the design and development of all current and new products related to the industries and sectors that the company participates in.
- You will work within the Engineering department to support Operations, Sales, and the Manufacturing Plant by assisting with the development of new products, preparation of engineering and quotation drawings, assuring the quality of incoming and outgoing products, and working on continuous improvement projects in our client’s production facility.
- While working closely with the other departments you and your team will develop new product ideas with the use of SolidWorks software.
- Prepare and test product prototypes, adjusting design flaws and evaluating the product prototype to identify potential safety hazards.
- Consulting with other departments to determine cost-effective manufacturing procedures and materials.
- Overseeing the start of the manufacturing process to ensure productivity and safety.
- Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to identify and drive non-standard solutions to solve manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work in rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance, self-starter, yet team player.
- Previous experience with shorter design cycles (48 hours to 4 weeks) is strongly preferred.
Qualifications :
10+ years of work experience, 3+ in Product Design & Development.Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering from accredited institution is preferred, not mandatory.Experience in Production Support & Problem Solving.Proven project management experience would be an asset.Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.Must be proficient in SolidWorks with a minimum of 3 years experience.Strong mathematical aptitude and an understanding of general manufacturing processes.Good interpersonal skills and a strong command of the English language in verbal and written communication.Compensation :
90,000-110,000 base salary.Extended health benefits, RRSP, paid time off.
