About the Role
As a Survey Technologist, Entry Level, you’ll support a dedicated work group by providing the survey requirements, documentation, and assistance necessary for the construction, maintenance, and location of all ATCO Gas and Pipelines and facilities.
Day-to-day tasks may include :
Assist with locating, staking, measuring chainage, profiles, and setting of grades as required for the construction and maintenance of company pipelines and associated assets.
Obtaining, reading and / or locating such data as benchmarks, legal survey monuments, registered plans, property lines, foreign underground facilities, and any other applicable sources necessary to carry out all aspects of surveying.
Assist and examine, locate, and arrange for staking of underground utilities, right of ways, access roads, temporary working space and other obstacles or considerations that may affect construction and are not detailed on working plans.
Routinely test, adjust, and maintain survey equipment and instruments.
Supporting with the processing, conversion, uploading and drafting of field survey data, as required.
What You Bring
Graduation from a two-year Technology program at a recognized institute of technology or equivalent, with a diploma in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering.
Eligibility to obtain professional designation of Certified Engineering Technologist ( through the Association of Science and Engineering Technology. (ASET)
Related survey experience.
Familiarity with regulatory codes governing the natural gas industry is desirable.
Familiarity with government-based websites such as : Spin, Abadata, Altalis and Canada Lands Surveys.
Proficiency in using MS Office programs such as : Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Experience with AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, and / or other related technologies is desirable.
An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Must display good verbal and written communication skills, decision-making skills, and a strong work ethic.
Must have a valid Alberta Class “” Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract.
Ability to complete pre-employment conditions such as background check and alcohol and drug screening
