In the Primary Reserve Force, you will enroll through a specific Reserve unit. Your workplace will be your Reserve unit on a part-time basis, with minimal obligations outside training, typically one night per week and some weekends, with possibilities of full-time employment. During deployments, you live and work alongside CAF members.
If joining the Regular Force, upon completing training, you will be assigned to a base, with possible relocations throughout your career. Reserve members do not have to relocate outside their Reserve unit commitments.

If you already have a university degree and a license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Canada, and civilian experience, the CAF may place you directly into a Nurse Practitioner role after evaluation. Additional courses may be required. Contact HSRecruiting-RecrutementSS@forces.gc.ca for more information.
Training
After Rank Qualification Lieutenant training, civilian Nurse Practitioners will complete a military healthcare provider course at the Canadian Forces Health Services Training Centre in Borden, Ontario.
