About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced and driven HR Manager to lead our core people functions. Reporting to the COO, you will drive recruitment, employee experience, and people operations to support our growing team of purpose-driven individuals who are making a global impact. This is a unique opportunity to shape the employee lifecycle at a fast-growing startup with a team that is both high-performing and deeply engaged.

Key outcomes for this role in the next 12 months include :

  • Support Business Scaling : Lead the hiring strategy to support a 20% increase in headcount while building systems that improve the overall recruitment / onboarding process and candidate experience.
  • Enhance Employee Experience : Partner with leadership to embed veritree’s values, systemize employee onboarding, and strengthen internal communications.
  • Optimize Performance : Lead and refine veritree’s Performance Acceleration Framework to drive alignment with company goals, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and support informed decisions regarding pay and promotions.

Key Responsibilities :

Talent Acquisition :

  • You will develop and execute a hiring strategy to attract a qualified and cognitively diverse talent pool. This includes drafting and posting job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers.
  • You will actively source candidates through online channels (e.g., job sites, social platforms, and professional networks).
  • You will manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including screenings, interviews, assessments, and test projects.
  • You will guide managers in defining key selection criteria to improve hiring outcomes.
  • You will improve and manage the employee onboarding experience to create a smooth and engaging start for new hires and improve employee time-to-productivity.
  • People & Culture :

  • You will lead the continued development and management of veritree’s Performance Acceleration Framework to ensure alignment with veritree’s values, business goals and employee growth.
  • You will be a trusted advisor to employees and managers on workplace issues, conflict resolution, and feedback delivery.
  • You will identify and implement learning and development opportunities to support employee growth.
  • You will develop and lead initiatives to strengthen employee engagement and foster a positive, inclusive work culture.
  • HR Administrative :

  • You will manage and audit employee records using BambooHR.
  • You will support the oversight of payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy with enrollment and communication.
  • You will conduct salary benchmarking to maintain market competitiveness.
  • As necessary, you will develop and implement improvements to HR systems, policies, and procedures.
  • You will ensure compliance with labor laws, human rights regulations, and privacy standards.
  • You will manage internal communications related to HR policies and procedures.
  • Requirements

    Professional Requirements :

  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Manager, Business Partner, or Generalist role, ideally within a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Strong understanding of talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Proven experience advising and coaching managers on people-related matters.
  • Familiarity with HR tools and systems (BambooHR, Workable, Lattice).
  • In-depth knowledge of employment, human rights, and privacy laws.

  • A typical hiring range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 CAD per year with the final salary offer based on your qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant experience.
