Job description

Applications are invited from teachers with BC Certification for the following teaching position : North Island Secondary School, Port McNeill, BC 0.14 FTE Temporary - English First Peoples 11 Commencing : September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 or until the return of the incumbent, whichever comes first The successful candidate will have the following qualifications : completion of a Bachelor of Education; certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch; academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level Social Studies, BC First Peoples, and Kwak?wala; a strong grasp of the Kwak?wala language; strong classroom management skills; the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies; the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning; strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices. The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $62,493 to $109,240, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
