YOUR MISSION
As the Performance Medicine Clinical Lead, you will report to the Director of Human Performance Operations Services. You will be responsible for providing essential performance medicine support to the entire group of artists at the Center of Excellence in Montreal.
You will work in close collaboration with all the Human Performance Specialists, Strength & Conditioning Lead and PMED teams on shows to ensure adequate rehabilitation, reconditioning, re-integration and overall health of artists, in an integrated support environment.
- Supervising a team of two (2) full-time therapists and a pool of on-call therapists, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance / service evaluations.
- Participating in short-term, medium-term, and long-term planning for therapists' needs for artists passing through the SSI.
- Ensure that all PMED daily operational needs are being met at the highest possible standards of professionalism, care and ethics.
- Adhere to shows’ Artistic Direction along the Director of Human Performance Operations Services’s directives and timely communicate with them.
- Promote a positive, stimulating and ethical working environment for the PMED Team while being part of the Human Performance global team.
- Promptly convey all pertinent information to the Director of Human Performance Operations Services while actively participating in periodic meetings and reporting.
- Perform all relevant tasks inherent to the profession of a therapist in a professional, ethical manner and at the highest possible standards of care.
- Work in close relationship with the Operations and Logistic Team to plan the day-to-day operations of the Performance Medicine Team which amongst other duties including but not limited to : staff scheduling, assignments and management of clinical cases, and supplies maintenance while ensuring the workspace is properly and professionally organized and maintained at all times.
- Communicate with the Integrated Support team in Montreal, Show Quality and Show’s artistic team regarding injuries timelines allowing shows to determine temporary necessary replacements and to recommend external care, when appropriate.
- Ensure that the environment’s emergency response preparedness related to artists is at the highest possible state of readiness, including leading the emergency response’s training with the PMED team and the technicians in Montreal and regular close interactions with members of the emergency support team.
- Ensure that emergency response and care are being delivered in a safe and professional manner.
- Stimulate and foster close functional relationships with human performance specialists, strength & conditioning specialists and interpreters by establishing and implementing programs directed at the prevention of injury in an effort to achieve optimal performance, relevant to an artist’s specific needs;
make recommendations for referrals, when appropriate, for medical conditions (psychological and nutritional).
- Collaborate with the Human Performance team to create exchange moments for feedback and problem-solving regarding reintegration planning and performance support.
- Ensure that all medical information, interactions and interventions are being documented and communicated as per medico-legal and CdS specific requirements including but not limited to CFit while making sure artist-therapist confidentiality is being adhered to at all times.
- Collaborate with artistic team to ensure clear communication regarding Performance Medicine recommendations for artist functional restrictions.
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE
- University degree in physiotherapy or athletic therapy / training and a properly maintained and recognized professional registration.
- Current and maintained professional registration with an appropriate professional organization for the jurisdiction and nature of your therapy qualification and Quebec.
- A minimum of 8 years of post-graduate musculoskeletal experience in a performing arts / performance sports environment, including a strong knowledge and expertise in rehabilitation.
- A strong proficiency in French and English.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong knowledge of performance recovery approaches, workload management, injury risk reduction and first aid / trauma management.
- The ability to travel to touring / events show sites around the world as "fly in" show coverage support as needed.
- Exceptional health care skills with a focus on rehabilitation.
