Job Description
Irving Shipbuilding is one of the most modern shipyards in North America, defined by its pace and appetite for change. Irving Shipbuilding is building more than 20 Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships and River-Class Destroyers as part of the largest and most complex shipbuilding initiative in Canadian history. As a key member of the IT team, you will have a direct impact on the design and enhancements that ensure the digital experience exceeds the expectations of the enterprise. You will ensure that network operations are efficient and secure by supporting and maintaining the lifecycle on network services and solutions. This position requires full-time on-site presence. All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to the networking component of the J.D. Irving Limited infrastructure.
- Act as an escalation point to manage all required vendor and external technical resources to effectively troubleshoot issues.
- Provide subject matter expertise as the networking resource on a wide variety of internal and customer facing technology projects, supporting organizational standards.
- Optimize existing systems related to performance and capacity and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Research, understand, and implement security protocols.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedure documentation for all networking solutions.
- Lead and oversee day-to-day networking activities and contribute to long term operational planning and activities.
- Participate in the on‑call rotation for production support.
- Tools and technologies : Cisco Prime, Cisco Identity Services Engine, Junos Space, OpManager, A10, and Netscaler load balancing technologies.
Qualifications
A university degree, college diploma or a related discipline.Ability to pivot to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information.Teamwork : work well in a team environment with a focus on knowledge sharing and collaboration.Effective customer service and communication skills.Bonus : CCNA, CCNP certifications.Juniper, Meraki, and Check Point certifications.ITIL Foundations certified.
Leading Change experience or Lean yellow / green belt certifications (or other process improvement experience).Additional Information
