Intent of the process

Department of Justice Canada is looking for talented candidates to fill various administrative and clerical support services positions at the CR-05 and AS-01 groups and levels.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established from inventory extractions which may be used to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice.

These vacancies may require various language requirements, operational requirements, conditions of employment and / or work locations, which may or may not be listed in this job advertisement.

Note : The Program and Administrative Services Group comprises positions that are primarily involved in the planning, delivery or management of administrative and federal government policies, programs, services or other activities directed to the public or to the Public Service.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

CR-05 POSITIONS : Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

AS-01 POSITIONS : A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

Note : If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and / or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards through a recognized credential assessment service.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in providing administrative OR clerical support services in a work environment (which could include volunteer work).

For example : Preparing, organizing and storing information in paper and digital form, data entry, dealing with queries on the phone and by email, processing service requests, reception services, scheduling appointment or meetings, booking rooms, arranging travel, etc.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Successful completion of studies from a recognized post-secondary institution such as, but not limited to : Degree, Diploma of vocational studies secondary school (DVS), Diploma of college studies (DCS), etc.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience providing support in accounting operations (e.g. : Accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, etc.).
  • Experience using a financial management system for example : SAP, CAS, etc.
  • Experience providing administrative / secretarial support services to a manager, director, VP, CEO, etc.
  • Experience providing support in Contracting, Procurement or Material Management.
  • Experience providing support in Human Resources (e.g. : classification, staffing, policies, programs, labour relations, Compensation and Benefits).
  • Experience providing support to projects.

EVALUATION PROCESS

STEP 1 APPLICATION

You will need to submit your application online to confirm your interest and eligibility for consideration.

Please note that it is not sufficient for applicants to simply state that they meet the criterion or list their current responsibilities or to direct to the resume.

Rather, they must provide directly in each screening question concrete examples that illustrate the activities they have actually performed and explain how these activities meet the requirements.

Applicants who do not clearly demonstrate how they meet the essential criteria and that they possess the asset qualifications (education and experience) will be screened out.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing will be assessed through the screening questions.

STEP 2 ONLINE EXAM

Candidates that are pulled from inventory extractions will be invited to complete an online multiple choice exam. Screening of applications will be conducted for those that will pass the exam.

We will only accept on-line applications received via the GC Jobs site.

As part of the selection process, we will be using online testing software.
