This position provides maintenance and minor custodial service to the First Nations University of Canada facility and tenants. Generally, the employee in this position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and custodial duties associated with building maintenance activities, ensuring a safe and clean environment. This position interacts with students, staff, faculty, suppliers, vendors and building and equipment inspectors.
Duties and Qualifications :
The successful candidate will have completed a Grade 12 with a class five (5) power engineering certificate is preferred or a minimum of Fireman’s level. A minimum of two years’ experience in building maintenance is required.
The Maintenance Repair Worker will perform the following duties : Maintaining the proper operation of the mechanical, electrical and boiler systems; Maintain the grounds including lawn maintenance, snow removal of walk ways and the parking area, ensuring safety and the regular maintenance of the grounds; Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions; Performs minor electrical and plumbing maintenance; Performs minor painting and other related duties. Vacuum, sweep, clean floor areas, ensuring all floor areas are cleaned daily; Dispose of garbage on a daily basis; Identifies stains and uses proper chemicals for removal and other duties as required.
This position is under the CUPE Collective Bargaining Agreement.
