Wood is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join its team, focusing on projects in the Power & Utility sector. This opportunity is onsite in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The Role
The Senior Project Manager will ensure delivery of services in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner, in line with contractual requirements, to the satisfaction of customers and Wood. This role involves managing both internal and external project stakeholders, acting as the focal point for project-related issues, and providing mentorship to more junior project managers / engineers.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities :
Ensure the project scope is well defined and agreed among all stakeholders. This includes project deliverables, project assumptions and project risksManage both internal and external project stakeholders and ensure important, relevant information is communicated regularly to all stakeholdersAct as the focal point for all project related issues. Manage project related issues with Client Project Engineers and Wood Discipline LeadsProvide mentorship to more junior project managers / engineerEnsure adherence to Wood’s and Client project management, change management and document management procedures and processesReview and approve purchase requisitions, contracts, and invoices within authority levelEnsure the baseline cost estimate and schedule reflect the scopeMonitoring of costs and budgetsMonitoring of delivery status and progress, communicating delivery status and progress to appropriate stakeholdersMonitoring and control of Wood workflow processMonitoring and control of change management processFacilitate management review, detailed design clarification meetings, constructability reviews and close out meetingsFoster an environment of openness, trust and honesty in support of Wood’s Core ValuesEnsure that Lessons Learned Reviews are conductedPosition may require site visitsQualifications

Expected
An Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred but any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may also be consideredEngineers must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Newfoundland and LabradorMinimum 15+ years of experience with relevant engineering and / or project management experience in the Power & Utility sector with a proven track record in delivering on schedule and budgetStrong understanding of project management principles and objectives with a strong emphasis on project executionAbility to communicate at all levels of both internal and Client organizationWork with minimal supervision and must be self – starter who takes ownership of tasks through to completion with successGood working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Knowledge of P6 considered an assetExcellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skillsGood verbal and written communicationAuthorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is requiredAbout Us
