Join the City Operations Waste Services team as an Environmental Engineering Technologist! This position within the Sustainable Waste Processing section offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise. You will focus on environmental operations monitoring and data collection within waste management working a majority of the time outdoors. What Will You Do

• Assist with the operation of the Landfill Gas management system which includes balancing the well field managing condensate and coordinating with maintenance contractors and consultants
• Assist with the operation of the Groundwater Diversion System and the Leachate Collection and conveyance System
• Conduct monitoring activities at all Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) and other Waste Services sites (eco-stations closed landfills) for groundwater wells leachate wells and perimeter gas probes
• Taking weekly groundwater measurements downloading levelogger data and collecting gas composition readings as well as regular sampling (monthly groundwater quarterly leachate and waste sampling)
• Accurately enter data collected from inspections and monitoring into respective spreadsheets
• Participate in ENVISO and safety inspections / audits clean and maintain lab and sampling equipment and pick up necessary supplies and equipment
• Independently troubleshoot routine operational and monitoring issues (e.g. pump problems)
• Completion of a 2 year diploma in a civil or chemical engineering technologist program
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Waste Management field preferably in the operation of landfills
• Must be eligible to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with ASET

Hours of Work : 33.75 Hours weekly some standby work may be required

Salary Range : $40.230 - $50.568 (Hourly); $70875.200 - $89088.170 (Annually)
