The Role : As a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Mental Health unit, you will provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will support patient recovery, assist in implementing care plans, and contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment within the unit.
Responsibilities :
Monitor patients' health status, including vital signs, medication administration, and adherence to treatment plans.
Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
Advocate for patient needs, assisting in addressing any ethical or patient rights concerns.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure documentation complies with established policies.
Requirements :
Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted LPN license in the province.
Minimum of 2 years Canadian experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
BLS certification required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in critical thinking and time management skills, suited to a dynamic, patient-centered environment.
