Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Business Analyst to join their team in Vancouver. The ideal candidate will report to the chief financial officer, develop a cash flow monitoring system, and be responsible for organizational budgeting. This serves as an integral part of the Finance team, while also liaising between various departments within the Public Administration. This position is a full-time, three-year termed position with the opportunity to extend.
Roles / Responsibilities
Cash Flow Monitoring & Management
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive cash flow monitoring system.
- Ensure real-time tracking of incoming and outgoing cash flow across all financial accounts and business units.
- Provide weekly updates and forecasts to the Chief Financial Officer on cash flow trends and potential risks. Provide monthly detailed cash flow reporting.
Organizational Budgeting
Lead the development of annual and multi-year budgets in collaboration with the department heads.Monitor and track budget performance across departments, ensuring alignment with financial goals.Provide regular financial reports to department heads and the CFO, highlighting variances and making recommendations for cost controls.Agreement Review & Analysis
Conduct thorough financial reviews and agreements (including contracts, funding arrangements, and relationships).Ensure compliance with financial terms and identify potential financial risks.Liaise with legal and department leads to recommend adjustments to agreements as necessary to meet organizational objectives.Needs Analysis & Requirements Gathering
Identify organizational needs through stakeholder interviews, department feedback, and data analysis.Capture, analyze, and document organizational requirements related to financial management, budgeting, and cash flow.Present recommendations to improve financial processes and systems based on organizational needs.Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Act as a liaison between the Finance team and other departments to ensure effective financial planning and implementation.Collaborate with department heads to gather information and ensure all financial aspects of projects are accurately reflected and accounted for.Provide training and guidance to departments on budgeting processes and financial management best practices.Financial Reporting & Data Analysis
Prepare detailed financial reports for the CFO, Public Administration, and external stakeholders as required.Conduct data analysis to support financial decision-making, including trend analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning.Ensure financial data integrity by developing and maintaining efficient financial tracking systems.Project Management
Manage key financial projects such as the implementation of new budgeting tools or financial software.Ensure projects are completed within set timelines, budgets, and to the satisfaction of key stakeholders.Compliance & Policy Adherence
Ensure financial operations comply with internal policies, legal requirements, and external agreements.Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance financial governance across the organization.Grant & Funding Management
Assist in preparing funding applications and monitor the financial compliance of various grants and funding received.Work closely with funding bodies to ensure proper documentation, reporting, and audit compliance.Skills / Qualifications
Skill and knowledge attained by successful completion of a Post-secondary degree in Business, or a related field; a minimum of three years experience in a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;Project management methods and skills experience (including resourcing, planning, executing and reporting);Experience in developing budgets, forecasting and reporting in an administrative context;Verbal, presentation and public speaking skills and the ability to provide often complex information in a straightforward and clear manner, to respond to questions and explain the department’s position on a wide range of program / policy issues.Skill in the use of workplace technology;Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing;Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks / projects in accordance with stated deadlines;Ability to be discrete, use tact, and good judgment.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Valid Driver’s LicenseCriminal record checkBenefits / Perks
