Overview of the Role

Saputo Dairy Products Canada is seeking a dynamic Engineering Senior Project Leader to join our team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Director of Engineering - Cheese Plants and be responsible for planning, estimating, and executing capital projects across our Canadian division plants.

We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills and a passion for excellence. This position offers the opportunity to travel across Canada (30-50% of the time), providing a chance to make a significant impact on our operations nationwide.

Salary ranges from $76,265 to $100,100 offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.

How you will make contributions that matter :

  • Plan, manage and support the various CapEx projects for Canadian plants, process installation projects, packaging, building, and utilities.
  • Establish preliminary concepts for equipment layout and present them to plants and related departments.
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of installation standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise the execution of projects, including monitoring the various subcontractors and make yourself available during the work (perhaps outside regular working hours).
  • Collaborate with the buyer in the engineering department, define equipment specifications and purchase offers, make their selection, and group purchases in order to optimize costs.
  • Prepare budget estimates in close collaboration with other departments (operations, maintenance).
  • Ensure rigorous management of the allocated budget and communicate progress on a regular basis.
  • Establish, monitor and respect project schedules, communicate to the project team the progress, problems encountered, and solutions proposed.

    • You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent training.
  • Member of a professional engineering association in a Canadian province is an asset.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience, experience in agri-food is an asset.
  • Knowledge of automation and controls is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software, the Office suite including MS Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a field approach.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of autonomy, ability to prioritize and manage emergencies.
  • Communicates in English (both orally and in writing).
  • Have a car and a valid driver's license.
  • Be a team player and have an appetite for big challenges.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada (30-50%).
