The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, the Airport Management Coordinator is responsible to ensure the safety, integrity, and efficiency of daily airport operations which includes ensuring that all Transport Canada requirements are met to maintain certified status.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all activities of the airport, which includes airside, building and groundside operations and maintenance.
- Monitor daily transmission of NOTAMS as pertaining to the daily operations of the airport and issue notice to airmen when required.
- Monitor and work with Engineering and Development for all capital projects.
- Complete all minor or routine maintenance projects.
- Monitor and manage compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s), Aerodrome Security Measures (ASM’s) and building security.
- Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with government agencies, aviation community, and other external groups.
- Participate in emergency situations and mock disaster reviews.
- Respond to complaints from airport users and the public regarding airport operations.
- Complete and participate in accident / incident investigations and reporting.
- Ensure that City employees have appropriate training to be airside as required.
- Assist in the development of the airport’s strategic plan and other duties assigned by the Manager.
Health and Safety
Understand and adhere to the policies, principles and practices of OH&S legislation, and the City\'s requirements, as these obligations pertain to this role.This position is considered a safety sensitive position which includes light physical effort involving but not limited to : climbing ladders, standing, walking, balancing, manual dexterity, visual acuity, crawling, crouching, outdoor work, operating equipment and lifting up to 20lbs.Education, Qualifications, and Work Experience
Post secondary education in Aviation Management, or accreditation by the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE). Equivalent education and experience may be considered.Five (5) years direct experience in airport operations, airline operations, or related field.Equipment operator experience (grader, bobcat, mower and sweeper) is an asset.Pilot license or working towards is an asset.Valid Class 5 Vehicle Operators License in the province of Alberta.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively with individuals at all levels of the organization.Demonstrated customer service and conflict management skills.Proven ability to build trusting relationships and effectively influence, collaborate, and negotiate across departments and with external stakeholders to achieve results.Sound decision-making abilities, with a strong aptitude for problem solving and negotiating effective resolutions.Excellent time management and project management skills, with a high level of organization and the ability to plan, prioritize, and follow through.Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office.Must be able to work some shift work, including evenings and weekends to maintain airport service levels.What We Offer
