Giving sound strategic advice, and generating actionablerecommendations, based on data and best practice, is the very core of this newlycreated role! AND it doesn’t stop there… Not only will the Academic Operations(AO) Specialists generate actionable recommendations, but the AO-Specialists willalso play a key role in supporting Schools with implementing consistentsustainable operational processes / practices to deliver on the recommendations.

Reporting to the Director, Academic Operations, andworking closely with Associate Deans, this support position acts as a nexusbetween their assigned portfolio, AQOE’s Academic Operations department, and othercentral departments such as Finance, Space Planning, and Facilities, to helpensure Schools makes effective operations decisions around strategic enrolmentplanning, resource planning, staff planning, space planning, capital resourcing,tuition setting, and budget creation.

KeyResponsibilities :

  • Analyzing andsynthesizing information from a variety of disparate sources of information togenerate sustainable and actionable recommendations
  • Advising and consultingon strategy development related to portfolio operations
  • Leading and preparing resourcingprocesses
  • Collaborating withinthe work unit to implement principles and strategies for consistency andaccountability
  • Collaborating withacademic program leaders on operational strategies and processes
  • Assisting with planning,and implementing strategic enrollment initiatives
  • Collaborating withFMD / Space Planning teams, to align capital resourcing
  • Contributing to thedevelopment and maintenance of academic operations' year-over-year, criticalpath
  • Coordinating withProgram Chairs, staff, and administrative functions to create smoothoperational workflows.
  • Monitoring progress andadjusting operational plans
  • Supporting theadministrative and resourcing components of program development
  • Act as AcademicOperations subject matter expert, supporting the development and launch of newacademic programs, including market research, feasibility studies, andcurriculum planning; and assisting in the preparation of program proposals andcapital resourcing requirements to support documentation creation and approvalprocesses.

Knowledge,Skills & Abilities :

  • Knowledge of methods, techniques and practices related to development ofacademic operational / business strategies and processes
  • Knowledge of related department policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of dataanalysis methods, techniques and practices; and related skills using tools andsoftware (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of operationaland / or project management methods, techniques, and practices
  • Good understanding ofgeneral office administration procedures
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to initiate,develop, and maintain professional relationships
  • Well-developed interpersonal,communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Qualifications :

  • Related post-secondarydiploma (i.e. Business)
  • Minimum 3 years relatedexperience
  • Equivalent combinationsof education and experience may be considered
  • Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).

    Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.

    Remuneration :  $71,098.04- $95,372.94 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification –Advisor / Specialist II).
