Fitzrovia is looking for a Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting to join our team. The Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Accounting team, managing the delivery of key accounting functions, and leading a team of two direct reports. The Senior Manager will ensure the effective execution of the Corporate Accounting strategy, foster the development of future talent, and hold the team accountable for achieving performance targets.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with strong time management, organizational, and analytical skills. They will demonstrate a keen attention to detail, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to think critically and creatively to solve problems. A focus on process improvement and the application of industry best practices is essential. The candidate should also be a team-oriented leader who enjoys hands-on involvement and embraces new challenges.

As we are a highly collaborative team, this role is full-time on-site, and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the team by setting clear expectations, managing performance, and empowering direct reports.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables, including consolidation, investor reporting packages, variance analysis, acquisitions / dispositions / JV reporting, legal and tax compliance, internal and external financial statements, year-end audit processes, and invoice / cash management approvals and forecasting, including investor distributions and capital calls.
  • Collaborate with direct and indirect reports to ensure alignment with department goals, following established policies, procedures, and business practices.
  • Streamline and maintain robust internal controls and processes.
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues, providing guidance on complex matters.
  • Leverage cross-functional resources to address challenges and drive results.
  • Serve as a liaison with senior management, property management, asset management, leasing, and investments, ensuring the Corporate Accounting team delivers responsive, high-quality service and support.
  • Take on leadership roles within the organization, including participation in committees, recruitment efforts, industry events, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and financial analyses as needed.

Qualifications and Experiences :

  • Post-secondary education with a specialty in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA or actively enrolled in the CPA program (midway through or nearing completion) is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related accounting role, with at least 3 years of progressive managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and General Accounting Principles is required; IFRS experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with consolidation / intercompany transactions and preparation of audited financial statements is required.
  • Experience with asset acquisition, disposition, and joint venture (JV) accounting is an asset.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sage Accounting.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Capable of working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong initiative with excellent project management, change management, and process improvement skills.
  • Adaptable and quick to learn new processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and assess broader trends and risks.
  • Strong communicator and team player with experience working closely with teams across multiple locations and time zones.
