Head of IT Strategy and Operations

The Chief Information Officer is a full-time, permanent position based in Halifax, NS, reporting to the Managing Director. In this position the CIO will be developing and implementing the company’s IT strategy in alignment with Global, Regional and Local business goals and objectives. Leading digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience and business growth according to the local BU strategy. This role also oversees IT operations management, including Infrastructure, applications (Solution Architects), cybersecurity, data management team and Service Desk Team. The CIO will be collaborating with the Senior Manager's leadership to identify and prioritize technology initiatives that drive and add business values. Responsibilities : Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company and regional standards, industry standards, and best practices in IT governance and security in CanadaFoster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department and across the organization, while managing IT budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to regulate technology investments and performanceDefine and execute the Local BU’s IT roadmap, including system upgrades, integrations and new technology implementationsDevelop and enforce IT policies, procedures and regional and global standards to ensure data security, system reliability and work efficiencyLead and mentor the IT team, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunitiesEnsure the availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure to support business operations 24x7Manage cybersecurity initiatives to protect the company’s data, systems and networks from threats and vulnerabilitiesConduct regular risk assessments and implement disaster recovery plansExperience, Qualifications & Attributes : Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related fieldDemonstrable experience as a Chief Information Officer (CIO), IT Director or similar leadership role with 5-15 years in IT managementProven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives and driving technology innovation in a multinational company environmentExperience with cloud computing, data analytics and SaaS Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data management, data protection and service desk 24x7 practicesExperience in project managementExperience in Logistics companies’ business, container, maritime terminalsExperience with robust environments (DB2, Oracle, TOS – Terminal Operational Systems)Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teamsHigh level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential informationProfessional with a positive, proactive ‘can-do’ and ‘solutions-oriented’ attitudeAmbitious and self-directed with a strong work ethicStrong verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationshipsMust be adaptable and comfortable with change and unexpected challengesHighly developed analytic / problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize under time constraints, and work to deadlinesStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with an emphasis on exceptional quality of workWe thank all interested parties but only those selected will be contacted to move forward.
