Our client in the manufacturing industry is hiring for a full time permanent Finance Manager to join their high level and fast paced organization. The Finance Manager serves as a crucial "Business Partner," actively contributing to the formulation and execution of product line objectives and strategies while maintaining robust financial management reporting systems. With a primary focus on supporting the construction materials segment, encompassing aggregates and ready mix, this role is dedicated to furnishing Finance Directors and Operating Managers with comprehensive financial management insights and strategic assistance, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Ensuring precision in financial reporting is paramount, alongside efforts to enhance comprehension of critical business dynamics and optimize outcomes. Central to this role is the identification and integration of best practices to drive continual improvement and efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

Financial Analysis :

  • Offer financial guidance to senior management stakeholders, by evaluating and dissecting financial outcomes to pinpoint areas ripe for enhancement.
  • Interpret financial implications of various events and activities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.

Financial Planning & Modeling :

  • Aid in all aspects of Financial Planning, including monthly forecasting and Mid-Term planning exercises.
  • Conduct sophisticated financial modeling and quantitative analyses to inform decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate on financial planning initiatives such as annual budgets and Mid-Term plans, extending financial guidance and assistance to operational teams as necessary.
  • Financial Reporting :

  • Act as the finance representative in cross-functional and regional projects and endeavors.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and collaborate closely with business units to compile accurate monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Deliver timely, comprehensive financial information to local Senior Leaders and Finance Directors.
  • Supervise accounting and reporting activities at the market area level, including the preparation of management reports and presentations.
  • Coordinate and support month-end financial reviews, ensuring the reconciliation of asset and liability accounts.
  • Financial Compliance :

  • Uphold stringent financial and accounting controls, ensuring strict adherence to company policies.
  • Concentrate on enhancing efficiency and standardizing processes across different product lines.
  • Collaborate with the finance team in Eastern Canada to drive standardization initiatives.
  • Champion adherence to company policies and act as a catalyst for process and system enhancements.
  • Inventory and Fixed Assets Management :

  • Oversee inventory and fixed asset management by conducting regular balance reviews and reconciling survey results with physical inventories.
  • Process Optimization :

  • Prioritize maximizing efficiency and standardizing processes across all markets and plants.
  • Lead efforts to drive process and system improvements throughout the product line.
  • Engage with Service Centers to ensure alignment in achieving finance objectives.
  • Maintain robust financial and accounting controls while accommodating ad hoc requests as needed.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • 5+ years of financial management experience with increasing responsibility
  • Professional accounting designation required (CMA, CGA, CPA, or CA)
  • Operational and Shared Services Finance experience, preferred
  • Key user SAP experience is an asset
  • Bilingual (English – French) is an asset
  • Demonstrated financial / business analysis / cost control skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Lafarge plant operations an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Strong ability to influence with and without authority
  • SAP / ERP BI skills
  • GAAP / IFRS knowledge
  • Understanding of shared services model for finance
  • HARP knowledge
