Position Summary

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and a member of the senior management team, the Vice-Provost International is responsible for further developing and delivering on Lakehead’s international strategy. The Vice-Provost oversees Lakehead University International (LUI), a team responsible for International Enrolment (marketing and recruitment), International Student Services, Global Engagement and Student Mobility, and the English Language Centre. The team also includes overseas staff based in key markets around the world.

As the ideal candidate, you will bring a track record of success leading key aspects of internationalization strategy in a post-secondary environment and a demonstrated understanding of international relations across several cultures. Your collaborative leadership and people management skills will be combined with strong communication skills and a proven ability to achieve results.

Qualifications

• A graduate degree in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in international education, including student recruitment, partnership development, and global engagement.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of the global education landscape, including international student markets, immigration regulations, and global partnerships.
• In-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation and government policies that impact international student recruitment and success.
• Experience working with diverse cultures and a deep commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within a global context.
• Comprehensive understanding of post-secondary education structures and their academic and non-academic functions, as well as working relationships within the sector.
• Financial management experience, including budget oversight and resource allocation.
• Ability to represent Lakehead University on international platforms and build relationships with key stakeholders globally.
