Position Overview
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Compliance Director will work independently to support Grieg Seafood’s functions with primary accountability for obtaining and maintaining applicable certifications. The Director will actively contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and standards for assigned projects and participate in technical working groups and activities relating to compliance; they will support the activities of the regulatory and compliance function with primary accountability for overseeing the preparation and management of simple and complex environmental and regulatory submissions. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of strategies for assigned projects and participate in technical working groups and activities relating to compliance. From time to time, they will undertake other responsibilities as directed.

The ideal candidate holds a Degree in Aquaculture, Certifications, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental studies or equivalent. They will have a minimum five (5) years’ of supervisory related work experience, preferably in an industrial setting (e.g., mining, forestry, or with fisheries, aquaculture and / or a marine setting or equivalent). Experience with certification submissions including interpreting standards requirements; developing and maintaining certifications application timelines is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
The incumbent will bring excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills. They possess knowledge and understanding of Provincial and Federal policy, regulations and legislation regarding finfish aquaculture. The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills; advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook); strong verbal and written communication skills; and a valid driver’s license.
The Compliance Director is ideally based in Marystown and works 40 hours on average per week Monday to Friday. However, Grieg Seafood is open to a flexible and / or hybrid work schedule within Newfoundland.
