As this is a confidential search, details on the organization will be released only to those short-listed for the opportunity.THE OPPORTUNITYThe Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing delivery of accurate, timely and precise payroll results for the organization capturing 2000+ employees. This role will manage a small team of Payroll members . This position monitors and oversees payroll function, delivering error-free payroll ever cycle. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in payroll having completed payroll for large volume environments, has experience in working with HRIS systems and is very accustomed to a complex and fast paced environment.RESPONSIBILITIESOversee Payroll Processing Manager and ensure the accurate processing of salary payments, benefits, and deductions, T4s, year-end reconciliations, Records of Employment. Compliance Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations related to payroll and taxes.Record Maintenance Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions. Reporting Prepare and distribute income statements and other payroll-related reports.System Management Coordinate with technical team for any system upgrades, changes or challenges.Team Supervision Supervise and coach payroll staff, providing training and support as needed.Issue Resolution Resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.Collaboration Work closely with HR and accounting departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.Audit Liaison Liaise with auditors for payroll tax audits and ensure all documentation is in order.Process Improvement Identify and implement best practices to improve payroll. FIRST YEAR – MEASURES OF SUCCESSHandle all CRA external inquiries and reconciliations with professionalism and efficiency.Excel in providing exceptional customer service to internal employees.Effectively lead a strong team by managing performance to ensure stability and success.Review existing payroll practices and systems understanding what is working well and what gaps exist where improvement can be made.THE INDIVIDUALGiven the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes : EducationMinimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent from a recognized educational institution.Additional relevant education considered an asset.Canadian Payroll (Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)) certification is required.Experience Ten (10) years’ experience in full-cycle Payroll will be preferredThree (3) years’ supervisory experience is requiredEquivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Thorough understanding of payroll related principles, procedures, legislation, and regulations.Knowledge of HRIS systems considered an asset.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to represent the organization in external audits.Expert knowledge with CRA - Payroll rules.Expert knowledge of T4s, ROEs, and year-end activities.Advanced knowledge and proficiency in using applicable Microsoft (MS) suite programs, especially Excel and Word.Proficient in use of other computer applications, systems, and databases.Advanced time management, planning, and organizing skills to achieve goals and meet deadlines.Ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours as required to meet the needs.
