How You Will Make an Impact
The Rapid Mobile Case Manager will provide support to families staying in City funded overflow hotel spaces.
- Duties include Assessment, intake, housing-based case management, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, accompanying families on apartment viewings, facilitating long term housing success, and linkages with other community services
- Maintain safety and security for all families staying in the hotels by ensuring all overflow hotel policies are followed by clients of the overflow hotel program and safety plans are completed when needed
- Work closely with emergency shelters and the City of Hamilton to provide timely access and prioritization of available shelter beds to families most in need
- Possess an in depth understanding of trauma, violence against women issues, and harm reduction principles is required
- Individuals will work from a strengths-based, trauma informed model of service and within an anti-racist / anti-oppressive framework
- To observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in community outreach or emergency shelterPost-secondary education in social services or a related fieldDemonstrated knowledge of community resources and the emergency shelter systemValid CPR and First Aid CertificationExcellent written and oral communication, team building, negotiating and problem-solving skills requiredAbility to work well independently but also cooperatively with community stakeholders and co-workersDe-escalation, conflict resolution, and non-violent crisis intervention skills are an assetValid G Driver's license requiredFluency in French and / or a language in addition to English preferredDemonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse and complex health and psycho-social needsExcellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes and community settingsComputer literacy including Word, ExcelCommitted to anti-racist / anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good ShepherdWhat We Offer
