Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, Technical and Environment, you will be responsible for directing the technical programs in areas of Process and Quality Improvement. The Process Engineer is accountable for the completion of the technical projects in their assigned area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Carry out technical projects involving process and quality improvements and technological change. These projects will have impact on the long-term future of HSPP in terms of product quality.
- Direct the efforts of Process Chemists, Technicians and Technologists as assigned by the Manager, Technical & Environment.
- Be intimately familiar with all aspects of pulp and paper manufacturing at HSPP including product costs and available industry technology.
- Be alert for waste or loss of any kind, whether of time, material or equipment, and take steps to correct any of these.
- Develop the skills and capabilities to those junior staff working under his direction to ensure that they contribute to the best of their abilities towards the mill’s objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Technical & Environment.
- Training / mentoring employees as required keeping them abreast of technological changes introduced into the workplace.
Qualifications
B.A. Sc. in Chemical Engineering5-7 years demonstrated industry experienceAbility to plan, organize, execute and work to specific goals and objectives relating to process design workStrong technical leadership and mentoring skillsStrong data analysis and visualization abilityExcellent time management, prioritization, and decision-making skillExcellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)Compensation & Benefits
