Specialist Engineer - Retube Tooling Design

Reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling Design Engineering in Retube, Inspection and Maintenance Systems, the Specialist Engineer - Retube Tooling Design would support Pickering Retube, Feeders and Boiler Replacement project. The candidate will be responsible for developing and / or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team :
- Assignments normally include tooling system and equipment design and development, design modification, investigation of design difficulties, testing of materials / machines, preparation of specifications, process study, cost estimating and preparation of reports, review of vendor’s documentation, supporting and investigation / resolution of manufacturing and installation difficulties.
- Perform conceptual and detail design engineering work on mechanical equipment and systems, including preparation / review of design documentation such as design requirements, design descriptions, design specifications, technical specifications, component specifications, test procedures and plans, commissioning procedures, registration design submissions packages, flow sheets, detail drawings, general arrangements, and equipment layouts.
- Independently (with minimal supervision), evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering knowledge and techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Ensure that the final deliverables from their team meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
- Perform engineering activities in accordance with both statutory requirements and best practices in safety and quality.
- Support assigned project engineering responsibilities on a technical or commercial endeavour.
- Participate in the preparation of commercial and internal proposals and approve the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Work is limited in scope and generally related to one field or discipline of engineering, although a knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas may be required.
- Mentor staff on an ongoing basis to maintain and improve performance and capabilities and knowledge transfer including technical guidance to junior staff assigned on common / other projects.
- Plan, schedule and manage own and the assigned team’s time, including considering the plans of other interfacing groups and the project demands.
- Ensure all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed / updated on / ahead of the due date.
- Lead and supervise a team of professional and technical experts to design, review, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, training, commissioning and execution support of the mechanical systems.
- Plan and execute work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Familiarized with and ensures that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures.
- Required to interface with clients and vendors for successfully delivery of engineering products in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
- Proven record leading engineering projects concerned with unique and difficult or complex problems which have an important effect on major company programs.

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of practical experience.Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.Proven experience and expertise in mechanical engineering design, in particular, machine design.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written on an individual level as well as with a large team.Proven technical leadership, organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task / Service orientated.Three or more years of experience leading engineering teams.Demonstrated ability to support complex and parallel technical projects.Experienced working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada is a must.Knowledge and experience with Retubing tools and systems would be an asset.Ability to obtain and maintain required level of security clearance.Willing to frequently travel to and potentially work at Project site in Pickering Ontario and vendor facilities to meet project needs on short and / or long-term basis on a short notice.Are you up for this challenge?
