Gpac has partnered with a law firm who is looking for a :

Paralegal - Family Law / General Civil Litigation

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Paralegal to join a legal team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to lawyers by assisting with various legal tasks, including document preparation, case management, and client communication. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of legal services.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Document Preparation : Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Case Management : Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all relevant documents are filed correctly and accessible.
  • Research : Conduct legal research to support case preparation, including locating relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Client Interaction : Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiries.
  • Court Filings : Prepare and file documents with courts or other relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
  • Administrative Support : Assist with scheduling, calendar management, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Billing and Timekeeping : Assist in tracking billable hours and preparing invoices for clients.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with attorneys and other team members to ensure the smooth progression of cases.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience : Previous experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant is preferred, especially in a law firm or legal department.
  • Skills :
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with court filing processes in British Columbia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software (e.g., Clio, PCLaw).
  • Additional Requirements :

    Certifications :  LAA or Paralegal certification from a recognized institution (preferred but not required).
