Position Summary :

Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation and Fitness Programs or designate, the Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for implementing and supervising a safe recreational experience for children of various ages.

Key Responsibilities :

• Plan, implement, and supervise various recreation experiences for children ages 4 to 12.
• Implement program lesson plans and daily schedules.
• Attend all staff training (40 hours) prior to the start of camp and weekly staffmeetings.
• Responsible for cooperative games, leisure experiences, crafts, sports activities, and day trips.
• Ensure site safety as well as the personal safety of each camper while carrying out planned activities.
• Comply with applicable provincial and municipal legislation, including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Municipality’s Records and Information Management Program.
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, and the Municipality’s Health and Safety Program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills :

Hours of Work and Working Conditions :

15 to 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

Employee Group : Student, Non-Union.
