The Professional Practice Office is currently seeking a full‑time, contract (until June 28, 2026) Nurse Educator supporting the Forensic Program. Reporting to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice and Education, the candidate will work collaboratively with the Clinical Program leadership team to contribute to quality client care for CAMH clients. The core functions of the role are dedicated to education of point‑of‑care staff and practice development.
Responsibilities
- Advancing professional practice within clinical areas by contributing to the development of high‑performing interprofessional clinical teams.
- Assessing and developing clinical and leadership skills of point‑of‑care staff in collaboration with program leadership, clinical managers and advanced practice clinical lead(s).
- Providing educational focus on scope of practice issues, interprofessional care planning, application of best practices at the point‑of‑care, and individual clinician and clinical team development.
- Supporting clinical staff in the implementation of education initiatives such as patient safety initiatives, implementation of clinical policies & procedures, use of I‑CARE, and orientation of new employees to the program.
- Collaborating with unit managers on performance management of staff, monitoring of clinical quality improvement measures, program planning, program research/evaluation and other academic activities.
- Supporting a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possession of a current BCLS(CPR) certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience within the mental health field; specific experience with clients with severe mental health and addiction issues and/or forensic histories is considered an asset.
- BN/BScN degree and computer literacy required; MN/MScN or other relevant Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous teaching experience essential; CNA certification in psychiatric/mental‑health nursing would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in challenging clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour, effective decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly organized and possesses excellent communication skills to facilitate working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to foster and create a learning environment, motivate and challenge, and work with diverse populations.
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

- Position will be based at 1001 Queen Street West and includes days, evenings, and weekend hours.
- Full‑time, contract (until June 28, 2026) position is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
