The Capital Management Analyst position, reporting to the Manager of National Capex Controls, is a critical role within the PMO Governance and Controls team. This role is essential for the financial management and maintenance of the Network CAPEX portfolio, ensuring that the company's capital expenditures are effectively set up, monitored, and controlled. The successful candidate will collaborate with a high-performing team to manage the portfolio, perform detailed financial analysis, and report actionable insights to stakeholders.

This position not only supports the manager with capital oversight and financial analysis but also plays a key role in driving strategic initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of CAPEX portfolio management.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Support the achievement of Network CAPEX targets by structuring and setting up project budgets and expenditure categories.
2. Review project change requests and prepare supporting documentation to present to management and senior leadership for approval.
3. Monitor the health of the CAPEX portfolio by identifying risks related to capital drag or project aging as well as variances against key performance indicators and collaborate with stakeholders to identify solutions and implement corrective actions.
4. Analyze large data sets to provide ad-hoc reports and actionable intelligence to relevant stakeholders.
5. Support the manager with capital spend reporting packages, business cases, presentations, and other ad-hoc analysis.
6. Establish and automate controls for spend integrity across the CAPEX portfolio while working with databases and online data repositories to extract and automate data flows.
7. Design and develop workflow processes and tools/systems that allow the team to achieve greater efficiency.

What you will bring:

1. Previous relevant work experience in capital management, financial analysis, or a related field.
2. University degree in economics, finance, accounting, or related field and have, or working towards, an accounting/finance designation (CPA/CA/CFA) would be an asset.
3. Ability to work with large datasets, handle multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
4. Autonomous self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
5. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
6. High proficiency with Office 365 suite of products with an emphasis on Excel (VBA would be considered an asset).
7. Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Applications (Oracle Fusion Cloud, OTBI, Smartview) is an asset.
8. Working knowledge of Power BI (DAX) and Power Query (M-Code) is an asset.
9. Ability to design and develop automated workflow processes using Power Automate is an asset.
