Tomlinson is currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you would evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the workplace. You would inspect mining establishments, industrial, construction, and other workplaces to ensure compliance with government regulations regarding workplace safety, sanitation, and the handling and storage of hazardous substances.
In addition, you would be responsible for the implementation of company health and safety programs as well as enforcing legislated acts and regulations. This includes the training of all workers to meet legislated requirements and the dissemination of health and safety information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Director, Health & Safety with health and safety for Tomlinson Group
- Conduct training for all Tomlinson Group employees, this would include development and tracking of training records
- Conduct site visits to all locations belonging to the Tomlinson Group of Companies
- Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries as required
- Distribute pertinent health & safety information and ensure compliance with all pertinent health & safety regulations
- Assist with all accident, injury, incident, spill reports and safety complaints from company employees, the general public and to develop corrective and preventive actions
- Provide Health & Safety advice to all members of the company
- Assist with Ministry of Labour and WSIB issues including injury claims
- Conduct surveys as required such as noise assessments etc.
- Attend project meetings as required
- Purchase of safety equipment as required
- Continue to advance health & safety knowledge through educational programs
- Other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
University or college diploma in Health and Safety or related field, or an additional 4 years of experienceBeing bilingual is an asset5+ years of related industry experienceMust have a good understanding of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WSIB ActMust be an effective communicator – written and verbalDemonstrated effective teaching and presenting skills to both small and large groupsProficient in MS Office SuiteMust have valid G class driver’s licenseMust be able to climb stairs and ladders, up to heights of 30m, with the ability to lift moderate loads up to 30lbsCertified WSIB JHSC representativeCRSP an assetInternal CoR auditor an assetTOMLINSON OFFERS :
