The Director of Electrical Engineering – Québec City plays a strategic role : stabilizing, inspiring, and developing a team of about twenty engaged professionals. This team plays a key part in delivering diverse institutional, industrial, and commercial projects, with a focus on communication, innovation, and collaboration.

Reporting directly to Martin Bergeron, P.Eng., General Manager – Québec City , and working closely with Julie Lefebvre, P.Eng., Vice President, Electrical , the Director will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and actively contribute to shaping the future of the Electrical discipline within BPA.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Project Oversight

• Oversee the technical execution of projects within the discipline to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with internal processes and client expectations.
• Plan, assign, coordinate, and supervise teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Ensure that all work complies with BPA’s engineering standards, procedures, and tools, while contributing to their continuous improvement.
• Serve as a technical resource and reviewer for complex projects or critical design decisions.
• Identify organizational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to improve internal processes and overall efficiency.
• Optimize resource allocation and manage priorities to balance workloads across multiple projects and deadlines.
• Participate in project kick‑offs, technical reviews, and close‑out meetings to ensure knowledge sharing and quality control.
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
• Identify hiring needs (interns, graduates, professionals), and take part in recruitment and onboarding processes in collaboration with HR.
• Assess development needs and foster ongoing training and professional growth within the team.
• Facilitate regular feedback sessions and performance evaluations in line with HR practices.
• Promote an inclusive and collaborative work environment aligned with BPA’s values and culture.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and healthy work environment in compliance with occupational health and safety standards and company policies.
