As an integral member of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit the INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER I works in the capacity of support to meet the needs of an evolving infection and prevention practice. The principal responsibilities include but are not limited to : performing surveillance activities within UHN to facilitate preventing and controlling outbreaks of infection; acting as a resource for internal clients providing support services during shifts and on an oncall basis including occasional evening and weekend oncall; providing education and training to internal care providers and other staff members; performing continuous Quality Improvement responsibilities; participating in professional development and education activities / programs to ensure excellence in the provision of Infection Prevention and Control services at UHN; performing crossfunctional and / or other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
