Main Purpose & Function
This is technical office and field work involving the preparation and maintenance of conceptual plans, working drawings and record drawings for the construction or renovation of a variety of civic buildings and facilities. The work may also involve assisting in staff relocations during and after renovations, and responding to work requests for minor repairs and upgrades to staff work spaces.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
This position will prepare and / or maintain a variety of records, files, reports, specifications and record drawings of all City buildings and related structures; manage data and drawing archives; and prepare architectural renderings, layouts, charts and visual aid material to be used in presentations to management and Council. In addition, the position assembles building and furniture background information for major renovation projects; and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Courses in Building Technology, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Must have considerable knowledge of architectural drafting methods, practices and techniques, including computer-aided-drafting and specification preparation; considerable knowledge of the building design principles, methods and techniques and of the building and fire codes, regulations and by-laws applicable to the work performed; and considerable knowledge of the use of CAD (AutoCAD 2010) programs for computer-aided-drafting as related to the work performed. In addition, the successful candidate will have working knowledge of construction methods, practices and materials and of current construction cost applicable to the work performed; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts including suppliers, contractors and movers; and the ability to prepare and / or maintain a variety of records, reports, routing correspondence and reference material related to the work.
A Police Record Check is a requirement of this position. A clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
