Position Overview

Our client, an established leader in IT managed services, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Tier 3 Technician) to join their growing technical team. This is an exciting hybrid opportunity for an experienced MSP professional who can balance deep technical expertise with strong communication and client relationship skills.

In this role, you’ll serve as the local onsite technical resource for a key client in the Kitchener-Waterloo region while providing remote Tier 3 support across a diverse portfolio of clients nationwide. You’ll tackle complex issues, lead by example, and mentor junior technicians all while helping clients modernize and secure their IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Tier 3 technical support across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, networking, and virtualization environments.
• Act as the primary onsite contact for a strategic client, fostering strong relationships and trust.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 team members, promoting collaboration and technical growth.
• Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 tenants (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, licensing).
• Manage Intune compliance and security policies across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
• Configure and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and VMware/Hyper-V environments.
• Support SQL-based applications and perform light database administration and troubleshooting.
• Lead and contribute to migration, deployment, and upgrade projects, ensuring seamless delivery and clear communication.
• Maintain thorough documentation of processes and client environments.
• Promote cybersecurity best practices, ensuring clients’ systems remain secure and compliant.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment providing Level 3 technical support.
• Proven expertise in Microsoft 365 tenant administration and Azure services.
• Strong working knowledge of Intune, Active Directory, and Windows Server administration.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and SQL troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Must be based in the Kitchener-Waterloo region (within 30 minutes travel).

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• Additional Microsoft, VMware, or related certifications
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and secure system design
• Project management experience within an MSP environment
