Legal Counsel Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial)

Position Description:

You will play the role of trusted legal advisor and will be a part of the Canada (Commercial) Legal group part of CGls wider global Legal Security and Privacy team. This role supports CGls business primarily in the Province of Quebec but also across Canada and in a variety of industry sectors including banking and financial services and public sector.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Your experience with and passion for commercial law and technology matters will make you a valued business partner and you will be engaged in the following work:

Serving as a legal advisor in high-value and strategic commercial agreements with a particular focus on information technology related agreements.
Reviewing requests for proposals from private sector and governmental clients.
Participating in stakeholder meetings to assess business opportunities to determine legal risks involved.
Advising stakeholders on CGls policies procedures and frameworks.
Advising on day-to-day commercial legal inquiries and regulatory compliance.
Managing and resolving contractual disputes.
Supporting other Canadian team members and international colleagues as needed.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Law degree from a recognized law school and a member in good standing of a Canadian provincial bar association in your applicable work location.
Legal Counsel: Typically 36 years of relevant experience
Senior Legal Counsel: Typically 7 years of relevant experience
Experience may be gained in a national or international law firm and/or an in-house legal department specializing in commercial law
Experience reviewing drafting and negotiating commercial contracts; information technology-related contracts experience in particular is an asset.
Strong analytical negotiating and drafting skills.
Effective prioritization and ability to manage multiple legal issues.
Practical business and legal judgment and ability to balance business needs and risk.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to the nature of the role which involves interactions with national and global clients.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90000$175000. This role is an existing vacancy.
